As the sun really starts to shine and we all make our way to a cool spot – perhaps the lake or a pool. Wherever we happen to go, my thoughts turn to water safety. For sure, water brings relief and comfort for some but also fear for others. Often these reactions to water have some basis on whether you learned how to swim. Swimming is an excellent sport and a great opportunity for increasing our health and well-being.
The Public Works team plays a vital role in our everyday lives here in Lloydminster and in all other municipalities. Our team here in the city is comprised of many people, and they care for us in many different roles.
The City of Lloydminster and its Alberta and Saskatchewan partners finalized amendments to the Lloydminster Charter in December 2022. The updated Charter went into effect on January 1, 2023, allowing the City to provide modern, seamless legislation within the border city.
Snow means so many different things to different people. Children are often the most excited about snow, snowman building, sleighing and snow forts. Oh, so much fun. For some, it's time to go south for the winter. For the rest of us, snow is something we deal with on our sidewalks, driveways and streets.
Winter is upon us, and we can now enjoy the season to the fullest. For some reason, this season seems to be the most predictable. Our community and the surrounding area have numerous opportunities to enjoy the sunshine, fresh air and clean, crisp snow. Getting out and taking the time to enjoy this season will help it to pass a little quicker.
