Lloydminster, AB/SK – As the end of the month approaches, the City of Lloydminster wants to advise residents that starting October 30, 2023, the City will pick up organics every second week. 

We have the pleasure to celebrate our small businesses who serve us each and every day. Small businesses range from restaurants to automobile dealerships to specialty shops and beyond. 

Once again, we look to make sure that we’re prepared in case of an emergency. This year, cooking fires is the focus of the Fire Prevention Week campaign, October 8-14. There are many aspects to fires and cooking, and some I would encourage you to think about include barbecues, stovetops, ovens, toasters and the like. Always ensure the cooking device is not touching something that may light on fire. 

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Lloydminster Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) — the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week^TM (FPW)  for more than 100 years — to promote this year’s FPW campaign, “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention^TM.” The campaign works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take when cooking to keep themselves and those around them safe.  

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Lloydminster Fire Department received 18 thermal imaging units from Cenovus Energy, a donation that will elevate firefighting capabilities and bolster the safety of the community.

I regularly have the opportunity to meet people who have recently moved to Lloydminster. There are local farmers and ranchers retiring, those leaving the big cities looking for a slower pace of life and housing that is more affordable. Lloydminster, AB/SK – In honour of National Seniors Day, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Lloydminster, in partnership with the Lloydminster Learning Council Association, invites individuals aged 55-plus to delve into the nuanced stages of retirement and explore the essence of resilience in the aging process. The event, slated for Thursday, October 5, 2023, will feature a compelling discussion led by renowned health facilitator, Neil Harris.

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster is proud to join forces with law enforcement agencies across North America on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, for “Operation Clear Track”— North America's single largest rail-safety law-enforcement initiative. 

It can be said that some things are a blessing and a curse all at the same time. We receive many benefits when it comes to being a community served by Canada’s two railway companies. Increased economic development is a direct benefit; the offset is the increased traffic on the rails and more time waiting at railway crossings.

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre (LGCC) wishes to inform its members and the community about an upcoming change to food and beverage services. Effective October 15, 2023, Wheaton Golf Services will be stepping away from the role of food and beverage provider at LGCC.
