Moment with the Mayor

Agriculture means many different things to everyone. We recently celebrated National Agriculture Day across Canada. Everyone has a different level of exposure to agriculture and the meaning of what agriculture is, and our experiences will differ between us.

I am often asked how and why you keep doing what you do. Attending meetings, public events and opportunities for our city is constant, and I want to share some of my incredible support in today’s article. 

We all could use a little kindness in our lives. 

We often experience kindness in one form or another as people say hello, smile, hold a door open, or move out of the way to yield the right of way. There are numerous ways to show kindness to our loved ones, friends, neighbours and our community. Kindness Wins encourages Lloydminster and area citizens to stand up for kindness, inclusion and respect and is in its 14th year.

Family Day is just around the corner and the City of Lloydminster team is in full gear as we prepare to enjoy Winterfest 2024, presented by L&A CPA LLP, on Monday, February 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

The word growth has a lot of meanings for us in Lloydminster. I plan to tackle a few of the meanings and explain why they are so important to us on many fronts.

The City of Lloydminster functions similarly to other communities; the framework in which that functionality is built is completely different and tries to encompass our unique bi-provincial nature.

The world runs on energy. Everywhere you look, the conversation today soon turns to energy and how we will power our lives, vehicles and businesses.

The new year is upon us, and it comes with the arrival of snow. For some, the thought of snowball fights, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling is still just wishes, but the first snow reminds us that these opportunities are still on their way!

As we join in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, it’s great to see and participate in the opportunities to spread cheer and hope to all. 

The Christmas season brings happiness and laughter, gatherings of family and friends, food and typically presents. The weather is usually a lot colder and much more winter-like, but this year is a rare gem.
