As I write this article, it’s hard to believe that June 21, the longest day of the year, has passed, and we’re now into summer. We’ve been blessed with lots of rain. It doesn’t always fall when we want it, but the green grass and crops definitely appreciate it.

As we’re now halfway through the month of June, I have to ask, “Where is time going?” The sun is out, and everything is greening up by the minute with the recent rains, which were timely for crops, pasture, hay land and, of course, our yards and gardens. I hate for you to think about the fall, and this fall, in particular, will take Saskatchewan residents to the ballot box for two elections. It doesn’t look like we will have a federal election until sometime after late February 2025.

Where does time go in the oil patch? Every day, someone is working in an industry near and dear to my heart, our community and a much larger surrounding area. Oil has played a huge role in the growth of our community, our provinces and Canada as a whole. Once again, this fall, our city is pleased to host the Lloydminster Heavy Oil Show.
