Public Art

Public art represents community values, enhances our environment, transforms public addresses into focal points and develops our awareness of place, people and history. The City of Lloydminster recognizes art as an important part of regional culture and economy and that the City has a responsibility to foster an environment that supports public art.

In June 2021, Council adopted its Public Art Policy, which provides direction for the administration of the City’s Public Art Collection. A Terms of Reference was created to provide direction for the operation of the Public Art Advisory Committee and the administration of the Public Art Collection. In May 2022, the City announced that it will be accepting submissions of Public Art for consideration. Submissions are ongoing throughout the year.

Submissions

Submissions are accepted on a continual basis throughout the year. Key points to remember when submitting public art for consideration:

  • Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted and may be requested to provide more information and/or attend a future Public Art Committee meeting.
  • Submissions are ongoing throughout the year, however the Committee meets quarterly. Artists will be contacted following the next scheduled meeting.

The Public Art Committee will deliberate all submissions for consideration. Acquisition methods include donation, bequests, purchase and commissions.

To submit, please fill out the Public Art Submission form.
