Todd Gustavson ‘Battle of the Badges’ memorial hockey game raises thousands for charity

Lloydminster, AB/SK— The Todd Gustavson ‘Battle of the Badges’ memorial hockey game, held Saturday, March 15, brought first responders and the community together for an afternoon of friendly competition in honour of former Fire Chief Todd Gustavson while supporting local causes.

This year’s event raised $4,283 in cash donations for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lloydminster, supporting mentorship programs for local youth. About 2,903 kilograms (6,400 pounds) of food was collected for The Salvation Army Lloydminster and The Olive Tree, benefiting local families and individuals in need.

The game ended with the RCMP claiming a 7-5 victory, earning bragging rights until next year’s event.

The City of Lloydminster extends a thank you to all attendees for their contributions, which helped make this event a success for the community.

Last year’s event raised $2,745 for mentorship programs and collected 1,361 kilograms (3,000 pounds) of food for local food banks, with the Fire Department winning 5-4.
