Organics-cart pickup moves to every other week, beginning October 28
Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster advises residents that starting October 28, 2024, the City will pick up green-cart organics every other week. After the initial pickup on October 28, 2024, the next collection will be on November 11, 2024, with this bi-weekly schedule continuing until Spring 2025.
Residents are strongly encouraged to diligently sort their organics to ensure only appropriate items are placed in the designated organic waste cart. This includes fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds and filters, eggshells, yard trimmings such as grass clippings, branches, and leaves, shredded paper, dryer lint, soiled paper, as well as bread, dairy products, meat, fish, rice, tea bags, popcorn bags, cold ashes, cooking oils, sawdust, cat litter, and small wood pieces.
This seasonal pickup change is part of the City of Lloydminster’s commitment to cost-effective and environmentally responsible waste management. Notably, during the colder months, organics disposal decreases by approximately 80 per cent, reducing the need for weekly pickups.
