Administration Presentations
- Administration identified the requirement for an Indigenous Cultural Protocol that recognizes the use of traditional ceremonial purposes, including the use of traditional medicines within City facilities and at events. It also covers land acknowledgement, smudging and traditional offerings. The Committee accepted the report as information.
- Administration presented amendments to the Downtown Façade and Building Improvement Program. The Committee accepted the report as information.
- Administration presented a proposal and rationale to extend the current Weaver Park Campground Caretaker agreement. The Committee accepted the report as information and directed Administration to bring the item forward to a future Council meeting for a decision.
- Administration presented the 2023Q4 procurement activity. The Committee accepted the report as information.
- Administration presented the 2023Q4 governance documents that were reviewed, created or amended within the fourth quarter of 2023 and any outstanding items. The Committee accepted the report as information.
- Administration presented a Cenovus Energy Hub update that included design, procurement and construction progress. The update also included milestones, operational planning, sponsorship and fundraising and budget updates. The Committee accepted the report as information.
- Administration presented a grant funding agreement with Border Paws for 2024-2026, which builds off the previous agreement with a 2% annual increase for each year of the agreement. The Committee accepted the report as information and directed Administration to bring the item forward to a future Council meeting for a decision.
Governance and Priorities Committee Matters
- Administration presented speed limit changes around and leading up to the 50 Avenue (Hwy 17) and 67 Street intersection. The Committee accepted the report as information and directed Administration to bring the item forward to a future Council meeting for a decision.
- Administration presented proposed amendments to the Landfill Tipping Fee Exemption Policy. The Committee accepted the report as information and directed Administration to bring the item forward to a future Council meeting for a decision.
- Administration presented proposed amendments to the Recreation and Cultural Services Fees Policy. The Committee accepted the report as information and directed Administration to bring the item forward to a future Council meeting for a decision.
- Administration presented a draft Accounts Receivable Policy, which aims to provide guidance to ensure consistency in internal processes and external customer experience. The Committee accepted the report as information and directed Administration to bring the item forward to a future Council meeting for a decision.
The next Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 22, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. via livestream and in person.
