Council Highlights - March 11

City Manager’s Office

1. Administration presented a letter received from WestJet regarding the cancellation of flight service to Calgary effective April 14, 2024. Council accepted the letter as information.
2. Council approved the appointment of Marilyn Lavoie as the Interim City Clerk effective March 15, 2024. 

Chief Financial Officer

1. Council approved the overall operating surplus of $4,863,262 and capital surplus of $3,252,545 to be allocated as per Schedule “A” on page 16 of the Council agenda dated March 11, 2024.
2. Council approved replenishing the City Manager Contingency Reserve Account No. 1-100-131-36110 to a balance of $500,000 by reallocating unrestricted reserve funds as per Schedule “A” on page 19 of the Council agenda dated March 11, 2024.

Operations

1. Council approved the award of the 2024 Street Improvement Program Local – Contractor to Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. of La Crete, Alta., in the amount of $792,961.50, excluding GST, to be allocated from the Capital Budget Project No.: 2432009. In addition, Council approved a contingency allowance of 15% in the amount of $119,000, excluding GST, to be allocated from the Capital Budget Project No.: 2432009.
2. Council approved the award of the 2024 Water and Sewer Replacement Program – Construction Contractor to Rusway Construction Ltd. of Lloydminster, Alta., in the amount of $1,777,972.50, excluding GST, to be allocated from the Capital Budget Project No.: 2442001. In addition, Council approved a contingency allowance of 5% in the amount of $88,900, excluding GST, to be allocated from the Capital Budget Project No.: 2442001.
3. Council approved the award of the Landfill Cell 1.4 Construction – Contractor to Brodsky Construction Inc. of Saskatoon, Sask., in the amount of $3,016,795.90 excluding GST, to be allocated from the Capital Budget Project No.: 2343001. In addition, Council approved a contingency allowance of 15% in the amount of $452,519.39, excluding GST, to be allocated from the Capital Budget Project No.: 2343001.
