City of Lloydminster sets Advocacy Priorities for 2025

Lloydminster, AB/SK— City Council approved the Advocacy Priority List for 2025 at the Regular Council Meeting on Monday, April 7, 2025. This list will direct resources toward key advocacy areas.

The Advocacy Priority List, which will be reviewed annually, identifies areas where Council and Administration can direct their efforts to maximize the impact of their advocacy work. The list provides a clear framework for pursuing federal and provincial funding opportunities, enhancing social services, and addressing pressing issues facing the community.

The key focus areas identified by Council for 2025, in no particular order, include:

  • Federal Funding: Securing annual and project-specific funding to address infrastructure needs.
  • Provincial Funding: Advocating for both annual and project-specific funding to meet local infrastructure demands.
  • Access to Health & Social Services: Expanding hospital and long-term care facilities services.
  • Mental Health & Addictions: Increasing local services and securing funding for programs like the PACT initiative.
  • RCMP Recruitment and Service Levels: Ensuring sufficient staffing and funding from the Saskatchewan government.
  • Housing and Homelessness: Addressing local housing needs and supporting initiatives to combat homelessness.
  • Education: Advocating for a seamless levy and equitable funding for education services.
  • Seamless Border Issues and Reporting: Improving cross-border processes and communications.
