City of Lloydminster provides data from Point in Time homeless count

Lloydminster, AB/SK - The City of Lloydminster has provided the results of the 2024 Point in Time (PiT) Homeless Count conducted on October 23, 2024, in collaboration with local service providers. The PiT Count offers valuable insights into the scope and complexity of homelessness in the community.

On the night of October 23, 2024, approximately 246 individuals experienced homelessness in the City of Lloydminster. The PiT Count gathers information through surveys and enumeration. Surveys ask participants about their experiences with homelessness, while enumeration determines the number of individuals experiencing homelessness in specific locations throughout the city.

Key findings from the 2024 PiT Count include:

·       91% of surveyed participants expressed a desire to transition into permanent housing.

·       The primary barriers to securing housing are tied to the cost of living, with 46% of participants citing low income and 42% reporting high rent as significant challenges.

·       Additionally, 69% of surveyed participants had lived in Lloydminster for one year or more prior to the PiT Count.
