City of Lloydminster invites residents to share ideas for the future of Archie Miller Arena
Lloydminster, AB/SK – Lloydminster residents have the opportunity to share ideas, hopes, and opinions around the future of the Archie Miller Arena through a community engagement campaign that commenced Thursday, January 9, 2025.
As the City of Lloydminster looks ahead to the opening of Cenovus Energy Hub indoor ice facility in Fall 2025, there is a need to develop a plan that will guide the future development or enhancement of the Archie Miller Arena facility and its use. The City has engaged TBD Architecture & Urban Planning to assist with the development of this plan. The team will work in collaboration to connect directly with Lloydminster residents and other stakeholders to collect input that will be compiled into a detailed report. The report and recommendations will be presented to City Council in March 2025.

About the Archie Miller Arena
Featuring a nostalgic old-time atmosphere, along with recently renovated and expanded dressing rooms, the Archie Miller Arena is a beloved landmark for Lloydminster-area hockey players and hockey parents alike. "The Archie", as it is locally known, is located at 4715 57 Avenue in Lloydminster. The arena was constructed in 1966 and features a full NHL-sized artificial ice surface and four player dressing rooms. It has a sand floor under the ice surface, where more modern arenas have a concrete slab. A recent building assessment has provided the City assurance that the building itself, while dated, does not have immediate structural issues.
