Aurora playground receives $50k funding through Co-op Community Spaces
Co-op invests $50K in inclusive playground in Aurora neighbourhood
Since 2018, Lloydminster and area has seen three local projects receive support through the Co-op Community Spaces program, and this year marks the fourth.
Midwest Family Connections, in partnership with the City of Lloydminster, will receive over $50,000 in funding to help establish an approximate 2, 840 square metre play structure, splash pad and shelter space. Located in the Aurora neighbourhood in the city’s southeastern corridor, Co-op Community Spaces funding will be used to purchase inclusive and accessible playground features to help ensure children of all ages and abilities can access outdoor recreational opportunities. The new Aurora playground is part of a multi-phase development that includes Lloydminster’s second splash park, neighbourhood connecting pathways, resting areas and lush green space.
“The City of Lloydminster is grateful to Lloydminster and District Co-op and the Co-op Community Spaces program for their tremendous support in constructing Lloydminster’s newest inclusive playground in our growing Aurora neighbourhood,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “This inclusive playground will serve as a hub of joy and connection, creating lasting memories for children of all abilities. We’re grateful for Co-op’s partnership and their investment in our community’s well-being.”
