ALERT: Stolen firearm recovered in Lloydminster drug bust

A stolen firearm was recovered following ALERT’s arrest of a suspected drug dealer in Lloydminster. Two homes were searched and cocaine, fentanyl, and meth were also seized.

ALERT Lloydminster’s organized crime team made the seizure on April 18, 2024 after two homes were searched. Lloydminster RCMP helped with the search warrant executions.

As result of the search warrants, ALERT seized:

• Loaded rifle with ammunition;
• 165 grams of cocaine;
• 5 grams of fentanyl;
• 2 grams of methamphetamine;
• $1,900 cash.

The rifle was previously reported stolen from the Edmonton area. It will be submitted for further analysis to ALERT’s Provincial Firearms Solutions Lab in order to determine if it was used in any other crimes.

Meanwhile, the drugs seized have an approximate street value of $17,000.

Two people were arrested and a warrant has been issued for a third suspect. Matthew McAnally, 24, and Cody Ronning, 32, have both been charged with drug trafficking offences.

A warrant has been issued for Shaun McLeod, 29 years old. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.

Ronning was wanted on outstanding warrants stemming from a previous ALERT drug trafficking investigation. He remains in custody.

Meanwhile, McAnally was released from custody to await his next scheduled court appearance on June 3, 2024.
