A Moment with the Mayor: Roundup of June events
June Update
As we move into the midway point of 2024, June is shaping up to be an exciting month full of activities in and around Lloydminster. A number of golf courses, tennis courts, trails and parks are just waiting for you to explore.
As I look at the calendar of events happening around the area, I want to ensure everyone is aware and hopefully able to plan and enjoy them.
So here are a few of the events I am aware of.
June 1-3
4-H Expo is hosted at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds. There are many displays and animals to check out.
June 5
The Interschool Powwow features Indigenous dancers and various dances. This event will be held at the Centennial Civic Centre.
June 7-9
Lea Park Rodeo is held north of Marwayne at the Jubilee Regional Park (Lea Park) and promises to entertain you with great rodeo action all weekend long!
June 8
Lloydminster Streetfest, presented by Anderson Insurance Group - Co-operators, is held in downtown Lloydminster from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shopping, eating and a whole lot more. Learn more at Lloydminster.ca/Streetfest.
June 14
Kick off the weekend with the annual Ultimate Block Party hosted by the various local businesses at 5115 55 Avenue from 4-8 p.m.
June 14-16
Sink your teeth into some great ribs at Ribfest being held at the Lloyd Ex. Bring the entire family for food and fun!
June 15
Just Kruzin Specialty Vehicle Club car show will feature an incredible collection of cars, trucks and specialty vehicles from near and far. The show will be hosted at the parking lot of the Servus Sports Centre.
June 20-22
Lloydminster welcomes and best of Saskatchewan country music performers and fans to the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards hosted at the Vic Juba Community Theatre and other venues. For tickets and more details, visit VicJubaTheatre.ca.
June 22
Lloydminster’s Filipino Community invites you to Bud Miller All Seasons Park for the third annual Filipino Festival for fun food and a great day celebrating Filipino style. This event is open to the public to come and enjoy from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
June 21-23
Take a drive to enjoy the Tri City Fair in Paradise Valley, River Course and McLaughlin communities. The fair offers something for everyone. You don’t want to miss it.
June 28-30
Experience a great powwow in Frog Lake Cree Nation. This gathering brings together dancers, friends and family from far and wide to celebrate Indigenous dance and culture. It’s a great opportunity to witness their beautiful ceremonial dance and their hand-crafted regalia.
These are just a sampling of the activities I have on my calendar. I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy them all.
