Water Quality

The City of Lloydminster undertakes a comprehensive water quality program to meet the requirements of the Permit to Operate a Waterworks issued by the Water Security Agency. This program includes continuous monitoring at the Water Treatment Plant and laboratory testing.

  • Every day the laboratory technician conducts tests on samples from the water coming into our plant, the clearwell and our treated water to ensure our online systems are accurate and the treatment process is working well.
  • Every week samples are taken at a minimum of six locations around the City of Lloydminster to test for harmful bacteria (E.Coli and coliform), chlorine and turbidity.
  • Color and turbidity of River and Desilting Pond samples are measured three times a week to give us a heads up on the quality of water that will come into the plant so that we can be proactive with our treatment.
  • Additional testing on our water at various locations is completed weekly, quarterly and yearly. In fact, each year over 9000 laboratory tests are completed on the water from the River to your tap.
  • The Water Treatment Plant operators perform regular calibrations and preventative maintenance on our online and laboratory instruments so that we can be assured that our results are accurate.
