City of Lloydminster to Recognize National Day of Mourning

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster will commemorate a Day of Mourning on Friday, April 27, 2018 for those who have been disabled, injured or killed in the workplace. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony.

At 9:30 a.m. on April 27, the proclamation for a Day of Mourning will be signed by Mayor Gerald Aalbers at City Hall, the flags lowered to half mast and a moment of silence observed. The ceremony will be held in partnership with the Lakeland Regional Safety Committee, with coffee and donuts supplied by ATCO.

Each year, workers, families and employers come together at ceremonies around the world to remember those who lost their lives on the job and to renew their commitment to improving workplace safety.

Members of the local business community are encouraged to also declare April 27 as a Day of Mourning and to continue to be proactive in the prevention of work-related incidents and occupational diseases.
