Lloydminster, AB/SK – Lloydminster City Council is pleased to announce Mr. Dion Pollard has been selected as the new City Manager for the City of Lloydminster.  He will assume his new role and responsibilities on November 1, 2017.

“This is the key leadership position within the City Administration and we are fortunate, to have attracted strong candidates from across Canada with the assistance of Mr. James Davies of DCG Executive Search Ltd.,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers.

Born and raised in Lloydminster, Mr. Pollard brings a wealth of senior leadership experience spanning 20 years, with several municipalities within Alberta.  He began his career as a Games Assistant for the 1997 Alberta Summer Games which took place in Lloydminster, before serving five years as the Director of Culture, Parks & Recreation with the Town of St. Paul.  He then spent the following 14 years with the Town of Vermilion, progressing from Director of Community Services to Town Manager/CAO, where he remained until he became the CAO for the City of Lacombe.

In addition to being active in the community in which he works, Mr. Pollard still calls Lloydminster home as he has strong roots in the community and his children continue to be actively involved in local and regional sports in the area.

“We wish to thank Mr. Rick McDonald and the City staff for all the hard work they have put in over the last several months while Council implements changes stemming from the recent municipal governance audit report,” said Mayor Aalbers. “We are excited about continuing the momentum and we feel that with the addition of Mr. Pollard to the existing executive leadership team, the City of Lloydminster will continue to be the community of choice.

“Please join us in welcoming Mr. Dion Pollard and his family on November 1. We are confident that Lloydminster will continue with a progressive administration.”
