City Affirms Commitment to Worker Safety Through 'MOSH Week' Activities

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster affirmed its standing commitment to worker safety during the Minds on Health and Safety (MOSH) initiative, held earlier this week.

The City’s Health, Safety and Wellness staff facilitated the two-day event, which offered all City employees the opportunity to attend a number of safety-focused presentations and interactive demonstrations.

“We were pleased to see so many of our staff taking advantage of the MOSH activities and reflecting on how they might improve safety at home and on the job,” said John Stevens, Manager, Safety, Health and Wellness. “Ensuring our people return home safe and healthy at the end of each work day is our No. 1 priority.

“We thank the partner organizations and individuals who contributed time and resources to enhance safety awareness for the City of Lloydminster team.”

On Tuesday, keynote speaker Spencer Beach addressed approximately 140 City staff to share a powerful message about workplace safety. In 2003, Beach was involved in a near-fatal workplace accident that resulted in severe burns to 90 per cent of his body.

MOSH Week activities also included information sessions on:
  • Distracted driving
  • Cancer awareness
  • Proper lifting and workplace ergonomics
  • String trimmer and mower safety
