Operations Team and Fire Department Respond to Oil Spill Northeast of City

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017, members of the City of Lloydminster Operations team responded to a report of spilled crude oil near the Wastewater Treatment Plant, located northeast of the city.

The Operations team - supported by the Lloydminster Fire Department - are working to mitigate potential for environmental impact. Saskatchewan Water Security Agency has been notified of the situation.

Motorists are asked to avoid the vicinity of the Wastewater Treatment Plant until further notice.

The cause of the spill is under investigation. Persons with information relating to the spill are asked to contact the City of Lloydminster Public Safety Office at 780-874-3710.
