Lloydminster AB/SK – Students at Lakeland College’s Emergency Training Centre will benefit from a significant equipment donation, courtesy of the Lloydminster Fire Department.
During a special ceremony at Fire Hall No. 2 on Wednesday, Lloydminster Fire Chief Jordan Newton will be joined by Lakeland College representatives for the official handoff of the department’s former aerial truck, which served Lloydminster for more than 30 years.
“Over the past three decades, this truck has helped protect our community and residents. At the college’s Emergency Training Centre, it will benefit future generations of firefighters as an important training tool,” said Newton. “In 2015, we were pleased to add a new aerial truck to our fleet, which enhanced our ability to safely attack fires at greater heights. We expect the new aerial truck will serve our community well for another 30 years.”
Chris Senaratne, Dean of Lakeland College’s Emergency Training Centre, applauds the Lloydminster Fire Department’s continued support.
“On behalf of Lakeland College’s Emergency Training Centre, I would like to thank Fire Chief Jordan Newton and the Lloydminster Fire Department for their generous donation of the aerial unit,” said Senaratne. “It is with your generosity we are able to enhance our fleet, enabling us to provide a stronger education to our business clients and our students – the leaders of today.
“Additionally, we look forward to the continued support of the Lloydminster Fire Department and strengthening our relationship through assisting in the training and development of volunteer firefighters.”

The 1986 aerial truck was originally purchased by the Lloydminster Fire Department for $360,000.
