Council Approves First Phase of Downtown Community Hub Project

Lloydminster, AB/SK – Lloydminster City Council has voted unanimously in favour of proceeding with Phase 1 of the Community Hub Catalyst project; the acquisition of the former Synergy Credit Union building, located at 4901 50th Street.

Valued at $4.7M, the former Synergy building and adjacent parking parcels will be utilized to create an attractive community space, enhancing the vibrancy and economic viability of the downtown core.

“The Community Hub project is a major piece of our long-term plan to revitalize downtown Lloydminster,” said Don Stang, Director of Community Services. “By acquiring this building, we are creating opportunity for exciting new community amenities, including the addition of new green space and relocation of our public library.”

The Community Hub project includes four main phases:
• Phase 1: Land Acquisition - purchase of the former Synergy Building
• Phase 2: Community Hub Development - design, community consultation and construction
• Phase 3: Community Hub Move In - building fit up and move in
• Phase 4: Central Square - design, community consultation and construction
