Extension Issued for CHIP Applications

Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster, in cooperation with the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, are providing Lloydminster residents an opportunity to become homeowners through the Community Housing Initiative Program (CHIP).

Due to extenuating circumstances, the City has re-opened the call for applications. From Monday May 2 through Monday May 16, 2016, interested parties can pick up an application at the City of Lloydminster Community Services office, located at 5106 44 Street (RCMP Detachment), second floor. Applications can also be accessed online at http://www.lloydminster.ca/CHIP.

Successful applicants must meet the following criteria:
• 18 years of age or older
• Currently renting in Lloydminster
• No existing mortgage
• Have a moderate household income (less than $74,000 per annum)

Prior to taking possession, CHIP applicants are required to provide proof of mortgage approval, contribute $3,000 towards the down payment and complete a home-ownership training program. The remaining balance of the down payment will be provided through community partners.

The 2015/16 CHIP program is funded through partnerships between the City of Lloydminster, Government of Saskatchewan, and local businesses. More information on the community partners is available at http://www.lloydminster.ca/CHIP.

A committee will review each application for financial need, community involvement and individual barriers to home ownership.
